LEARNING FOUNDATIONS

Learning Foundations are informed by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). They incorporate the EYLF’s ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’. The curriculum is play-based and draws upon children’s inherent curiosity and desire to explore their world and its creatures.
Early literacy concepts are developed through carefully selected books which educators read to children individually or in small and whole groups. Children can also choose their own books from shelves. Early literacy concepts are also communicated through wall displays, music, art and other curriculum areas.
Early numeracy concepts are introduced informally as children play and as part of carefully selected table- top activities and games.
Language is extended by exposing children to the spoken word, songs, books and signs from different cultures. We believe that this exposure develops the brain and extends thinking skills.
